Organizational Context

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) hosts the Josour initiative, a regional platform dedicated to reducing inequalities in the Arab region. Launched in 2022, Josour focuses on creating employment opportunities, enhancing skills, and improving employability for young people. It connects youth with institutions and the private sector, fostering collaboration and sustainable development.

Job Purpose

This internship supports the Josour initiative's mission to empower youth and reduce regional inequalities. The intern will assist in the daily management and growth of the Josour platform, a key regional tool connecting over 13,500 youth with more than 65 opportunity providers. By facilitating partner and youth engagement, managing platform content, and contributing to technical coordination and research, the role directly contributes to enhancing youth employability and fostering inclusive development across the Arab region. This position offers a practical experience in program support within a dynamic, collaborative environment focused on tangible youth empowerment outcomes.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the Josour team in several key areas. This includes platform management by monitoring partner inputs, announcements, and updates. They will assist in partner engagement by helping organizations post job, training, and internship opportunities. Youth engagement involves guiding opportunity seekers through the platform and providing necessary assistance. The role also entails communication, responding to queries from opportunity seekers under supervision, and contributing to technical coordination by reviewing platform functionality and suggesting enhancements. Additionally, the intern will support research activities related to youth empowerment and undertake other tasks as requested to advance the initiative's objectives.

No specific work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants should possess a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds is also expected.
