Organizational Context

The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, assists developing economies in expanding trade opportunities. The Institutions and Ecosystems Section (I&E) within ITC focuses on enhancing the capacity of Business Support Organizations (BSOs) to deliver export and investment development services. This internship is based at ITC Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to support the International Trade Centre's (ITC) Institutions and Ecosystems Section in its mission to build the institutional capacity of Business Support Organizations (BSOs). The intern will contribute to various projects, particularly those focused on capacity building for entrepreneurship support organizations like incubators and accelerators. Key contributions will involve assisting with digital communications strategy implementation, managing project documentation, and conducting research on trade and investment promotion best practices. The role is designed to provide practical experience in international trade development and institutional capacity building within a UN/WTO agency context.

Responsibilities

Assist in implementing the Digital Communications strategy for the I&E Section, including planning, creating, and scheduling social media posts for the Trade Support LinkedIn page. Provide support for the management of the ITCBenchmarking.org platform. Execute project-related activities autonomously, focusing on capacity building for entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs). Assist in preparing project documentation and support project implementation, potentially utilizing authorized AI tools. Plan and document team activities using Asana. Contribute to the development of BSO assessment reports and other written materials. Conduct desk research and BSO surveys as required. Prepare briefing materials on trade and investment promotion good practices using Word and PowerPoint.

Work Experience

No specific prior work experience is explicitly required for this internship. However, practical experience in project management, research, and digital communications would be beneficial. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and project management software (e.g., Asana) is advantageous.

Skills

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, social media), good communication and analytical skills, ability to present findings clearly (written and oral), knowledge of Business and Entrepreneurship Support Organizations and their ecosystems, knowledge of Digital Transformation and AI tools.
