CCAC Programme Specialist
Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) convenes the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), a unique international initiative focused on integrated climate and air quality solutions. The CCAC Secretariat provides essential support services, including for the Global Methane Pledge. This Programme Specialist role is situated within the CCAC Secretariat in Paris.
Job Purpose
The CCAC Programme Specialist will provide expert support for managing CCAC programmes, projects, and workstreams, ensuring high-quality results aligned with CCAC priorities and partner needs. This role involves coordinating diverse stakeholders, developing and quality-assuring substantive outputs, monitoring progress and risks, and integrating the assigned portfolio with broader Secretariat functions and expertise. The specialist will offer advice and support across various areas, including country engagement, project delivery, strategy, science, communications, and resource mobilization, contributing to the CCAC's mission of reducing short-lived climate pollutants and near-term warming.
Responsibilities
The Programme Specialist will provide expert advice to plan, manage, and deliver assigned CCAC programmes, projects, and partnership activities. This includes developing and maintaining work plans, budgets, and risk registers. The role requires coordinating governments, partner organizations, implementers, and internal contributors to ensure timely and coherent delivery. Responsibilities also encompass preparing high-quality strategies, project documents, proposals, and briefings, as well as reviewing and quality-assuring technical and policy outputs. Monitoring progress, results, and risks, maintaining documentation, and preparing reports for governance and partners are key duties. Additionally, the specialist will organize meetings, facilitate consultations, represent the CCAC in external engagements, and connect delivery across Secretariat functions to mobilize necessary expertise and improve systems and processes.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of direct professional experience in climate change and air pollution is required. Experience in multi-stakeholder partnerships, coordinating diverse organizations, and preparing clear written products is essential. Experience in an international or developing-country context is desirable.
