CCAC Associate Programme Specialist
Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Secretariat. The CCAC is a unique global partnership focused on integrated climate and air quality solutions, specifically reducing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). This role supports the CCAC's work programme and the Global Methane Pledge Secretariat.
Job Purpose
The CCAC Associate Programme Specialist will provide essential programme support to the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) and the Global Methane Pledge Secretariat. This role is crucial for transforming priorities into tangible outputs, fostering effective partner engagement, ensuring accurate information dissemination, and coordinating follow-up actions. The specialist will manage assigned portfolios, contributing to the overall delivery of the CCAC's work programme and objectives. This position requires proactive engagement, ownership of tasks, and collaboration across various functions to achieve the coalition's goals in reducing short-lived climate pollutants and advancing integrated climate and air quality solutions.
Responsibilities
Support the planning and execution of assigned CCAC projects, workstreams, and partnership activities. Conduct research and draft briefings, presentations, correspondence, and meeting materials. Maintain accurate work plans, trackers, databases, and records of decisions. Organize and follow up on meetings, workshops, and consultations. Coordinate information flow and follow-up with governments, partners, and stakeholders. Monitor progress, risks, and deliverables, including initial quality assurance of outputs. Facilitate connections between assigned work and relevant country, sector, science, funding, governance, and communications activities. Contribute to knowledge management, process improvement, and consistent operational practices. Communicate progress, issues, and next steps clearly and promptly. Provide ad hoc support to the CCAC Secretariat team.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of direct professional experience in climate change and air pollution is required. Experience in multi-stakeholder partnerships, coordinating with diverse organizations, preparing written products, and managing multiple concurrent activities is necessary. Experience in an international or developing-country context is desirable.
