The UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Beijing supports the UN Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team in China. It enhances inter-agency coordination, strategic analysis, joint programming, and advocacy to improve the UN System's effectiveness and impact in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about UN operations at the country level.

Job Purpose

This internship provides administrative and coordination support to the Front Office of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Beijing. The role contributes to the RCO's mandate of enhancing UN system coherence in China. The intern will assist with official correspondences, simple translations, filing, database management, and other ad hoc tasks. This position offers a valuable learning experience in UN country-level operations, supporting the RCO's efforts to strengthen partnerships and achieve SDGs. The internship is full-time, unpaid, and lasts for six months, providing practical exposure to inter-agency coordination and administrative functions within the UN system.

Responsibilities

Provide coordination and administrative assistance within the Front Office. Finalize and format official correspondences for the Resident Coordinator, ensuring timely approval. Offer simple translation and interpretation services as needed. Maintain and update chrono filing systems, archives, and contact information databases. Complete ad hoc tasks assigned by the supervisor to support office operations. Ensure official letters and speeches are formatted according to established office standards. Deliver assigned tasks and outputs, including correspondences, archives, and contact data, under the supervision of the Executive Associate.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must be pursuing or have completed a relevant university degree. Familiarity with standard office software applications is expected. The role focuses on providing administrative and coordination support, offering a learning opportunity rather than requiring prior professional experience.
