Security Information Analyst
Organizational Context
The Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) globally leads and supports the UN security management system, enabling UN programs in challenging environments. This role is based in Amman, within the UNDSS Israel and the occupied Territories and Jerusalem (IOPT) team, operating under the Principal Security Adviser (PSA) or Chief of the Security Information and Operations Center (SIOC). The duty station is designated as 'A' hardship and family-friendly.
Job Purpose
The Security Information Analyst is responsible for managing security-relevant information, including collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination, to support decision-making and planning for UN personnel, assets, and operations. This involves monitoring security incidents, daily reports, local media, and open sources to maintain awareness of the security environment. The role contributes to threat assessment, risk analysis, and the development of security advisories and recommendations. The analyst provides data-driven insights through visualizations and analytical briefings to UN leadership, partner organizations, and the diplomatic community, enhancing collaboration and consultation to ensure safety and security.
Responsibilities
Manage security information through collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination to aid decision-making for UN personnel, assets, and operations. Maintain awareness of the security environment by monitoring incidents, reports, media, and open sources, and cultivating an information network. Advise on threats affecting the UN, evaluate information requirements, and disseminate threat intelligence. Analyze security information to identify trends and assess risks, assisting in developing security risk assessments and advisories. Provide Gaza-focused security risk analysis and presentations. Conduct research on threat factors and support crisis management. Maintain communication channels with security authorities and interlocutors. Draft and disseminate security threat information and incident analysis reports. Contribute to regional threat assessments and collaborate with other analysts. Utilize data visualization for trend analysis and reporting. Share information and provide analytical briefings to partner organizations and the diplomatic community. Tailor SSAFE training to the Gaza security context. Perform other duties as directed.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in security information analysis or security management with a military, police, state, or international organization is required. Specific experience in risk mitigation strategies, humanitarian operations, conflict dynamics in Gaza, and engagement with UN/INGO in Gaza is also required or desirable.
