Organizational Context

The UN Secretariat's Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance, Office of Human Resources (OHR) seeks an HR Intern for the Global Strategy and Policy Division. This role offers hands-on experience in various HR functions, supporting the development and implementation of human resources strategies and policies within the UN.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to provide practical experience in human resources within the UN Secretariat's Office of Human Resources. The intern will gain exposure to key HR areas such as administrative support, communications, research, data analysis, and talent management. The role contributes to the division's efforts in enhancing HR policies, supporting staff well-being, and promoting efficient HR operations. The intern will assist in designing and implementing learning initiatives, supporting outreach activities, and collaborating on cross-functional HR projects, thereby supporting the overall mandate of the OHR.

Responsibilities

The HR Intern will support the Global Strategy and Policy Division in various capacities. Key responsibilities include assisting with administrative tasks such as maintaining records and databases, and preparing communications using Office 365 and Power BI. The intern will contribute to communication and outreach activities, including drafting content and managing web/social media. Research and data analysis will involve investigating HR policies, collecting and analyzing data for reports, and developing visual solutions. Additionally, the intern will help design and implement learning and development initiatives and training materials, coordinate events, and support the implementation of UN strategies related to staff well-being and engagement.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to human resources or talent development is necessary. Familiarity with standard software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is expected. Experience with content authoring, learning platforms, data analytics, or media design software is desirable.
