Organizational Context

The UN Secretariat's Resident Coordinator System (RCS) supports countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs through empowered Resident Coordinators. Following a 2019 reform, the Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO) was established to manage the RCS. In 2026, DCO recalibrated to align with UN 2.0 principles, emphasizing data, digital, and innovation. This Associate Data Analyst role is within the UN Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Job Purpose

The Associate Data Analyst supports the UN Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, by developing and implementing databases, data collection systems, and analytics to optimize statistical efficiency and quality. This role contributes to the UN's reform efforts aimed at effectively achieving the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The incumbent will collaborate with internal and external counterparts, including UN agencies, consultants, and NGOs, to share information and best practices. Key contributions include analyzing trends, improving data processes, developing monitoring and evaluation products, and creating reports and visualizations to support decision-making and communicate findings. The position also involves assisting in capacity-building initiatives for data analytics and contributing to the integration of data into cooperation frameworks.

Responsibilities

Implement and maintain databases, data collection systems, and analytics to enhance statistical efficiency and quality. Analyze and interpret trends and patterns using statistical methods to identify key variables in data. Improve data analytics processes, acquire and clean data from various sources, and manage databases. Develop monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) products for UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks. Collaborate on co-designing digital tools and dashboards with national statistical partners to track SDG progress. Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings to management and stakeholders. Track progress on department-specific data initiatives. Assist with data collection, initial analysis, and reporting of issues. Contribute to data product creation, gathering business requirements, and integrating data into common pipelines. Support UNCT statistical capacity-building and prepare materials for stakeholder communications. Stay updated on data analytics best practices and technologies. Conduct outcome-level analysis and contribution studies. Identify gaps in the National Statistical System and propose solutions. Assist in data preparation for model assessments and contribute to data analytics capacity-building activities, including trainings and 'data clinics'.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions is required. Experience in data quality assurance, data validation, data storytelling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is desirable. Knowledge of the data life cycle and project management skills are also desirable.
