Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is a regional commission of the United Nations dedicated to fostering economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Established in 1948, ECLAC supports governments through policy design, monitoring, evaluation, advisory services, and training. This internship is within the Human Resources Section in Santiago, Chile, operating on a hybrid work model.
Job Purpose
This internship within the Human Resources Section at ECLAC in Santiago offers a valuable learning opportunity for students and recent graduates. The intern will gain practical experience across key HR functions, including recruitment, staff administration, and staff development. The role involves supporting the implementation of the ECLAC Internship Programme, assisting with recruitment processes, managing HR communications, and contributing to staff training initiatives. This position is designed to provide hands-on exposure to UN HR operations, contributing to the efficient functioning of the Human Resources Section while offering the intern a comprehensive understanding of HR practices within an international organization.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the Human Resources Section in Santiago across three primary areas: Recruitment, Staff Administration, and Staff Development. In Recruitment, duties include assisting with the Internship Programme, supporting recruitment stages, maintaining communication channels and databases, organizing documentation, preparing outreach materials, and analyzing recruitment data. For Staff Administration, responsibilities involve supporting HR Partners with onboarding and separation, updating new staff materials, compiling survey information, distributing HR communications, and updating templates. In Staff Development and Performance Management, the intern will help prepare training materials, maintain attendance records, provide administrative support to the e-learning platform, and assist with scheduling and logistics for training activities.
Work Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, relevant training or practical experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) or similar is required. Studies in Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, and Advertising are preferred.
