Organizational Context
UN-Habitat Lebanon, established after the 2006 July War, focuses on housing reconstruction, shelter provision, and upgrading basic services. It supports long-term sustainable urban development through urban profiling, data collection, and policy analysis. The program collaborates with partners to achieve the urban dimensions of the 2015-2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adapting to crises like the Syrian displacement, socio-economic challenges, COVID-19, and the Beirut Port explosion.
Job Purpose
The Communication and Visibility Individual Contractor will produce professional, visually engaging, and user-friendly communication materials to support UN-Habitat Lebanon's project implementation, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement. This role is crucial for effectively communicating the organization's mission, vision, values, programs, achievements, and impact to diverse stakeholders, including donors, government counterparts, local authorities, partners, communities, and the public. The contractor will lead and support communication, visibility, outreach, and knowledge-sharing activities, ensuring project successes and organizational priorities are conveyed through high-quality content, digital platforms, media engagement, publications, and events. The position aims to strengthen UN-Habitat's public profile, donor visibility, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy efforts while adhering to corporate branding and communication standards.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive communication and visibility plans, including editorial calendars and schedules, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines. Create engaging content, transforming technical information into accessible messages for various audiences. Write and edit communication materials in Arabic and English, and design diverse visibility products such as newsletters, brochures, reports, presentations, banners, and social media assets. Document project activities through photography and videography, producing and editing multimedia content. Coordinate with external production service providers while ensuring ethical standards and safeguarding requirements are met. Manage content for websites, social media, and email campaigns, monitor engagement, and support media relations. Organize events, workshops, and launches, preparing necessary communication materials. Ensure consistent application of organizational branding, conduct quality control of materials, and maintain records of designs and approvals. Prepare communication reports and participate in planning meetings, supporting emergency communication needs as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in developing and implementing communication and visibility strategies, campaigns, and outreach activities is required. Experience working with UN agencies, international organizations, NGOs, or development projects is desirable. Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and other relevant design software is also required.
