Audiovisual Facilitator Consultant
Organizational Context
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development and adequate housing for all. Based in Rio de Janeiro, its Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC) focuses on implementing the Habitat Agenda, 2030 Agenda, and New Urban Agenda in Brazil. This role supports the "Rio Inclusivo e Sustentável Project," aiming to strengthen urban and climate resilience through youth engagement in Petrópolis.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support the "Rio Inclusivo e Sustentável Project" by facilitating audiovisual production and training for youth in Petrópolis, Brazil. The consultant will empower young participants to create original audiovisual narratives on urban and climate resilience using accessible tools and educommunication methodologies. The role involves guiding youth through the entire production process, from conception to final editing, fostering critical thinking, territorial awareness, and engagement with sustainability issues. The consultant will ensure the quality and thematic alignment of the produced content, contributing to the project's communication and dissemination goals, and ultimately helping to transform cities into more resilient and inclusive places.
Responsibilities
The Audiovisual Facilitator Consultant will plan and deliver training on audiovisual production using participatory and educommunication approaches for youth. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance on recording, editing, and post-production using accessible tools like mobile devices, and encouraging the creation of original territorial narratives. The consultant will monitor content production for quality and thematic coherence, support exhibition and dissemination strategies, and ensure alignment with UN-Habitat principles of inclusion and diversity. Additionally, the role involves producing audiovisual records of project activities, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with the Youth Engagement and Gamification Consultant to integrate educational and production processes. The consultant must also complete mandatory security training.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of experience in audiovisual production, communication, institutional design, or digital media is required. Experience producing audiovisual content in Brazil, facilitating workshops, and working with youth is essential. Experience with educommunication, social/educational projects, sustainability initiatives, or within the UN system is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in producing, editing, and finalizing audiovisual content using relevant software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve). Ability to manage audio equalization, standardization, and mixing. Strong facilitation skills for creative processes with youth. Excellent storytelling and narrative development abilities, with sensitivity to social and environmental themes. Strong organizational skills, proactivity, and teamwork. Adaptability to different digital formats and platforms is desirable. Fluency in Portuguese is required; working knowledge of English and/or Spanish is desirable.
