Organizational Context
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) provides technical assistance to Member States to combat terrorism, organized crime, corruption, and drugs. The UNODC Programme Office in the Philippines, based in Manila, implements the UNODC mandate and the Regional Programme for Southeast Asia and the Pacific within the country, coordinating activities with the government and partners.
Job Purpose
This internship offers an opportunity to support the UNODC Programme Office in the Philippines, contributing to its mandate of combating drugs, crime, terrorism, and corruption. The intern will assist in communication, reporting, administration, and coordination activities, working closely with UNODC teams and stakeholders. This role provides practical experience in program support within an international organization, focusing on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of UNODC's support to the region and its Member States. The intern will gain exposure to various sub-programmes and contribute to the development of communication materials and project documentation, fostering a deeper understanding of UNODC's operational framework and its impact on regional crime and drug challenges.
Responsibilities
Assist in drafting professional communications, including letters, newsletters, and concept notes, ensuring clarity and organizational alignment. Develop formal correspondence for project activities and stakeholder engagement. Maintain organized records of communications and revisions. Design and layout visually engaging communication materials and flyers. Prepare concept notes detailing objectives, rationale, and implementation plans. Coordinate with government agencies, civil society, and other stakeholders to facilitate project implementation. Provide summaries of coordination efforts, including meeting minutes and agreements. Contribute to the development and editing of project documentation and reports. Participate in team meetings and follow up on action items. Assist in planning and logistical arrangements for events and meetings. Maintain records of participation and support documentation and reporting. Facilitate collaboration and information flow among team members across multiple initiatives.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs is essential. Familiarity with standard software applications and visual design tools like Canva or PowerPoint is beneficial.
