Organizational Context

The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations is driving the Organization's digital transformation. The Enterprise Solutions Service (OICT/ESS), hosted by the UN Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre in Deqing, China, develops and supports enterprise solutions. This role is within OICT/ESS.

Job Purpose

This role is to provide technical expertise in the design, development, and implementation of web applications and services, particularly those with Geospatial and/or AI components, adhering to UN standards. The position involves contributing to solution design, creating technical and user documentation, and conducting training. It also includes providing third-level application support, troubleshooting, and managing version control. The aim is to enhance the UN's digital capabilities and support its mission through innovative technology solutions, ensuring reliable and secure systems.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include participating in the full lifecycle of application development, from programming and testing to debugging and implementation, with a focus on Geospatial and AI components. This involves adhering to UN established standards and contributing technical expertise to requirements analysis and solution design. The role requires preparing comprehensive technical and user documentation, developing training materials, and delivering technical presentations. Additionally, providing third-level application support, including version management and troubleshooting, is essential. Continuous learning, benchmarking new tools, and proposing innovative solutions are also expected.

Work Experience

Requires 3+ years of hands-on experience in building web applications with React and .NET Core. Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and C# is also necessary, along with experience in SQL and REST API development. Experience with Azure Functions, AI, and GIS is desirable.
