The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), part of the UN Secretariat, is undertaking an evaluation of Oman's Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025). Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide expert support in Financing for Development for the comprehensive evaluation of Oman's Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025). This involves gathering and analyzing economic and SDG-related data, scrutinizing financing flows, and assessing progress against national indicators. The role will contribute to understanding the plan's impact, identifying financing gaps, and providing evidence-based recommendations for the upcoming Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030). The work will inform strategic planning and improve financing, governance, and implementation arrangements for future development phases.
Responsibilities
The Individual Contractor will gather, compile, and update technical data related to Oman's national priorities, costing, and financing across SDGs and economic indicators. Responsibilities include extracting and analyzing data from national sources, scrutinizing financing flows, and assessing progress on national indicators from 2021-2025. The role requires providing econometric assistance for investment opportunity analysis, including quantitative economic modeling and causal inference for policy recommendations. Additionally, the contractor will assemble statistical material, adjust reported data, load data into a database, assess data sets for accuracy and validity, and interpret results. The role also involves assisting in database maintenance, preparing reports and presentations, and collaborating with team members.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in research, data extraction, or using statistical tools is required. A minimum of one year of experience with econometric models is also required. Experience in quantitative economic modeling and causal inference is beneficial for this role.
