Organizational Context
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) in Brindisi provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, IT, and Training services globally. This role is within the Warehouse and Distribution Unit, supporting the dismantling of a data center in Building 261, reporting to Campus Support in Central Service.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide essential metal carpentry services to ensure the safe, compliant, and functional maintenance of UNGSC infrastructure, systems, and facilities. The Individual Contractor will specifically support the project of dismantling the data center in Building 261 by performing structural assessments and dismantling prefabricated units. This ensures the continued operational integrity and safety of the campus facilities throughout the contract period, contributing to the overall mission support of UN entities worldwide.
Responsibilities
Perform metal carpentry services to restore and maintain infrastructure, safety systems, and facilities. Dismantle the old data center structure in Building 261. Assess the metal railing profile of the damaged entrance door in Building 261. Support the dismantling of prefabricated units previously used as a farmer database. Ensure all metal carpentry work is compliant and safe. Conduct routine maintenance of metal fixtures, machinery, aluminum windows, flashings, and rain gutters. Evaluate iron, steel, and aluminum materials for quality and suitability for tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in metal fabrication, assembly, and repair is required. This includes welding, cutting, and shaping steel and aluminum structures. Experience in routine maintenance of metal fixtures, machinery, and aluminum components is also required. Experience in sheet metal work for mechanical, electrical, or HVAC installations is desirable.
