Job Purpose
This Statistician position is crucial for the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) in New York. The role's primary purpose is to conduct statistical and actuarial analysis of data, directly supporting the Fund's actuarial program and the management of the Committee of Actuaries. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing, designing, and executing data collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation, and dissemination. This includes developing and managing statistical databases, providing research and technical support, and generating insights through data visualization for informed planning and decision-making. The role also involves contributing to the development of statistical standards and preparing technical documents for international meetings, ensuring the integrity and effective use of pension fund data.
Responsibilities
The Statistician is responsible for organizing, designing, planning, and executing the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation, and dissemination of statistical data. This includes selecting appropriate data collection methods, ensuring data quality, and implementing processing techniques for database integration. The role involves participating in the development, implementation, and management of statistical databases. Additionally, the Statistician will provide research and technical support for data collection programs and economic/financial data, utilizing data visualization to present insights for planning and reporting. Responsibilities also include contributing to the development or revision of statistical standards, preparing technical documents for meetings, and acting as a technical resource person in seminars and working groups. The role includes guiding, training, and supervising general service staff.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in collecting, compiling, analyzing, and disseminating statistical or economic data is required. Experience within a defined benefit Pension Fund for at least three years is desirable, as is two or more years of experience in an actuarial function.
