The UN Secretariat's Development Coordination Office (DCO) supports countries in achieving the 2030 Agenda and SDGs through empowered Resident Coordinators. The Partnerships Officer role, based in Pristina, Kosovo, supports strategic partnerships and resource mobilization for SDG achievement.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (UN RCO) and the United Nations Kosovo Team (UNKT) in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This position focuses on developing and coordinating strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including government institutions, development partners, civil society, and the private sector. A key aspect of the role involves advising on and implementing resource mobilization strategies to secure funding for UNKT's strategic plan priorities. The officer will facilitate joint initiatives, manage pooled resources, and promote financing for development options, contributing significantly to the UN's effectiveness and impact in Kosovo.
Responsibilities
The Partnerships Officer is responsible for providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNKT's partnerships with government, development partners, civil society, and the private sector to achieve SDGs. This includes advising on and monitoring the implementation of the UNKT Resource Mobilization and Partnership Strategy, liaising with UN entities, and serving as a point of contact for external stakeholders. The role involves building strong relationships with key partners, supporting due diligence processes, and developing strategic partnerships to accelerate SDG achievement. Additionally, the officer will participate in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, support the management of pooled funds, and advise on corporate policies for resource management. Collaboration with the DCO Economist and other UNKT experts is essential to promote financing for development. The role also contributes to knowledge management by promoting collaboration, sharing best practices, and maintaining a repository of potential donors.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in strategic partnership support, project/programme management, and resource mobilization within development cooperation is required. Experience in developing strategic partnerships across government, private sector, and civil society, as well as implementing resource mobilization strategies and preparing project proposals, is essential. Experience with inclusion strategies, UN interagency coordination, knowledge management, applied partnerships in specific sectors, and financing for SDGs is desirable.
