Consultant - Technical Support for Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) Module Pilot, Practical Documentation and Training Development
Organizational Context
The UN Secretariat's Department of Operational Support (DOS), through its Medical Support Section (MSS), is implementing a project to optimize and standardize lifesaving medical modules for UN Field Operations. This consultancy role is within the Office of Supply Chain Management, Logistics Division, and will provide specialized technical expertise to support the practical application and training development for Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) modules.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide specialized technical expertise to the UN Medical Support Section (MSS) to facilitate the transition of Aeromedical Evacuation (AME) modules from standardization to practical operational use. The consultant will translate existing AME technical outputs into practical pilot field test materials and training development products. The role is crucial for ensuring that AME pilot activities, training materials, job aids, and technical inputs are operationally realistic, technically sound, and aligned with standardized AME modules and the UN CASEVAC context. The consultant will contribute to enhancing UN peacekeeping supply chain operations by developing comprehensive training and support packages for AME operations.
Responsibilities
The consultant will develop a comprehensive AME Pilot Scenario and Field Test Package, including pre-activity preparation, technical support during the pilot, and post-activity documentation of observations and lessons learned. They will create an Initial AME Training Technical Content Package with online training inputs, and a Hands-on Familiarization and Practical Training Support Package. This includes developing learning objectives, delivery approaches, practical exercises, and assessment methods. The consultant will also prepare a final consolidated AME Training Technical Package, incorporating feedback and lessons learned. Key duties involve reviewing AME materials, developing training frameworks, preparing pilot testing activities, documenting observations, creating training content, and developing practical job aids and checklists. The role requires ensuring all outputs are practical, technically accurate, and aligned with MSS guidance.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in aeromedical evacuation, emergency/critical care transport, or related medical operations is required. Experience in developing medical guidance, technical documents, training inputs, or operational procedures is essential. Experience in developing technical training materials, practical scenarios, or job aids is desirable.
