The Finance & Economics Branch (UNEP-FEB) integrates environmental considerations into economic and financial policies, supporting sustainable development and climate targets.

Job Purpose

This internship within the UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Banking Programme aims to support the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB). The role will contribute to developing guidance, managing projects, and conducting research on sustainable banking topics such as climate, nature, and financial inclusion. The intern will assist the Banking Team in engaging with member banks, supporting PRB-related initiatives, and potentially managing smaller projects, thereby contributing to the financial industry's alignment with Sustainable Development Goals and climate objectives.

Responsibilities

Support the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) by assisting with PRB projects and working groups. Contribute to the development of thematic guidance for member banks. Conduct research on key sustainable banking topics, including Nature & Biodiversity, Climate & Net-Zero, and Financial Inclusion. Assist in broader activities within the Banking Team, such as PRB-related project management and engaging with banks and external stakeholders. Explore personal areas of interest and gradually take ownership of smaller initiatives, with increasing opportunities for independent task and project management.

Work Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. The role offers opportunities for interns to progressively take on more responsibility and manage tasks and small projects independently.
