Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the UN and WTO, aims to strengthen EU-Pacific business relations. This role supports the activation and development of a business platform and a group of private sector leaders committed to enhancing these ties. The position is home-based in the Pacific, with oversight from ITC Geneva.
Job Purpose
This role serves to activate and develop a business platform and a dedicated group of private sector leaders to foster enhanced business relations between the EU and the Pacific. The purpose is to provide advisory, consultation, and facilitation support, ensuring active and relevant engagement. The consultant will manage network development, facilitate technical exchanges, and contribute to the platform's evolution, ultimately strengthening economic ties and creating value through collaboration and information sharing. The role is crucial for the initial development and ongoing success of this initiative, bridging the Pacific and EU business communities.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing and managing the Business Champions network through proactive outreach, maintaining engagement, and identifying collaboration opportunities. This involves increasing the number of eligible Business Champions by working with local partners and establishing clear selection criteria. The role also entails facilitating online technical sessions for the Champions Group, managing their preparation and delivery, and providing ongoing technical support. Additionally, responsibilities include capturing and reporting on the network's value, maintaining accurate contact lists, providing input for HQ coordination, and formulating lessons learned with practical recommendations for the platform's future development. The consultant will also ensure intellectual property rights are secured for any materials used.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of experience in private sector development, institutional strengthening, or online community management. Proven experience in building governance and organizational excellence in small structures is necessary. Familiarity with chamber of commerce models and private sector advocacy structures is beneficial. Experience with senior-level government and private sector stakeholders in the Pacific and/or EU is an advantage.
