Organizational Context

The Partnerships, Communications and Advocacy Section leads strategic communications to enhance awareness, amplify youth voices, and support key initiatives.
Job Purpose
This role aims to strengthen the communications capacity of the United Nations Youth Office by supporting the timely delivery of high-quality communications products, digital content, and multimedia storytelling. The contractor will contribute to enhancing the visibility and impact of the Office's work through strategic campaigns and effective communication around priority initiatives. Key contributions include improving digital engagement, producing flagship communications, and ensuring successful planning and delivery for major events like the UN Youth Townhall, thereby amplifying youth voices and promoting participation across the UN system.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation of the UN Youth Office's communications strategy and editorial calendar. Draft, edit, and produce high-quality communications materials, including feature stories, blogs, speeches, talking points, and web content. Plan, draft, and schedule social media content across digital platforms and support digital communications for the Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs. Assist in multimedia storytelling by coordinating and producing short-form videos and audiovisual content. Support the production and dissemination of the monthly newsletter and communications for global observances, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives. Provide communications support for the UN Youth Townhall, including content planning, editorial support, social media coverage, and post-event storytelling. Monitor and report on communications performance, including analytics.
Work Experience
At least two years of progressively responsible experience in communications, digital communications, journalism, or public information is required. Desirable experience includes drafting written communications for diverse audiences, managing social media, digital content production, multimedia production, and supporting communications for campaigns, events, or international organizations.
