This role reports to the Director of Communications and supervises a small team.
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for enhancing the Agency's website design and usability, ensuring an optimal user experience and adherence to industry standards. The Web Editor will develop new approaches and processes for website administration, create engaging web pages using design platforms and CMS, and supervise content management for both English and Arabic versions of the website. Key functions include ensuring content accuracy and timeliness, liaising with departments for content creation (stories, videos, photo essays), analyzing website performance, conducting SEO tasks, and coordinating with vendors for service improvements. The role also supports the Director of Communications in managing social media content and provides web guidance to colleagues across the Agency.
Responsibilities
Develop and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve the Agency’s website design, usability, and user experience, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Design creative, interactive, and immersive webpages using web design platforms and content management systems. Supervise the English Language Website Manager and Arabic Language Webmaster, ensuring accurate and up-to-date content across both language versions of the website. Liaise with relevant departments and focal points to produce web content, including stories, videos, and photo essays, and coordinate technical improvements and training with external programs. Analyze website performance statistics and conduct Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tasks. Coordinate with web and social media vendors to enhance services based on current technologies. Assist the Director of Communications in managing and producing content for social media platforms and provide web communications guidance to colleagues.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in web management and new media within a large national or international organization is required. Experience with web communications technologies, such as Drupal, and knowledge of web standards are necessary. Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic is essential.
