Organizational Context
The United Nations Youth Office, within the UN Secretariat, is dedicated to youth affairs, leading system-wide coordination, advocacy, and promoting meaningful youth engagement in UN processes. The Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications Section spearheads initiatives to strengthen youth participation and foster innovative engagement approaches, particularly at the intersection of youth, technology, and innovation.
Job Purpose
This role provides temporary programme management and substantive support to the UN Youth Office's Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications Section during a period of parental leave. The primary focus is on managing and coordinating the inaugural UN Youth Townhall, ensuring effective planning, stakeholder engagement, and impact measurement. Additionally, the role supports the Office's broader mandate to enhance youth engagement in policy dialogues concerning technology, digital cooperation, and innovation, facilitating young people's participation in these critical discussions and contributing to policy development.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing day-to-day programme management for the UN Youth Townhall, coordinating implementation across internal workstreams, UN entities, and external partners. This involves developing and maintaining project plans, timelines, and tracking tools, as well as creating monitoring and impact frameworks to assess participation and outcomes. The role also entails coordinating the preparation of essential documentation, supporting engagement with diverse stakeholders including Member States and youth organizations, and monitoring follow-up actions. Furthermore, responsibilities extend to supporting the Office's work on youth engagement in technology and innovation policy, monitoring relevant processes, and serving as a focal point for engagement with key partners in this domain.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive experience in programme management, policy, or international development is required. Desirable experience includes supporting multilateral processes, stakeholder engagement, coordinating complex initiatives or events, and working on youth policy, technology, or innovation. Experience with monitoring and evaluation frameworks is also beneficial.
