Organizational Context
The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) of the United Nations is driving digital transformation to enhance future operations through innovative technology. The Enterprise Solutions Service (OICT/ESS) develops and supports enterprise solutions. This role is within OICT/ESS, hosted by the UN Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre in Deqing, China.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for developing and implementing AI and Geospatial components within new applications, aligning with UN standards. The incumbent will contribute technical expertise to solution design, ensure quality through requirements analysis, and provide comprehensive documentation. A key aspect is offering 3rd level application support, resolving issues related to AI models, and managing version control. The position also involves staying updated on AI advancements, conducting benchmarking, and proposing new tools and models to support the UN's digital transformation initiatives and enhance its service delivery.
Responsibilities
Participate in the full lifecycle development of new applications, focusing on AI and Geospatial components, adhering to UN standards. This includes programming, testing, debugging, and implementation. Prepare detailed technical and user documentation, training materials, and conduct technical presentations. Provide 3rd level application support, including version management, data recovery, and deployment. Conduct ongoing reviews with users and developers, and respond to user requests. Stay current with AI field developments, perform benchmarking, and propose new models, tools, and libraries. Manage version control using systems like Git and contribute to requirements analysis for solution design.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of experience with Python and at least one ML library (e.g., Pytorch, Jax, TF) is required. Additionally, 2+ years of experience with three or more of the following are necessary: model evaluation/fine-tuning, local model optimization/quantization, model serving/data pipeline deployment/monitoring, and RAG development. Experience with Git, CI/CD, and containers is also required.
