Job Purpose
The Industry Engagement Consultant will develop and implement strategies to engage metallurgical coal producers, steel producers, and investors. The primary goal is to build and expand an industry partnership focused on Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) to drive methane mitigation. This involves creating communication materials, planning outreach activities, and raising awareness about the Steel Methane Partnership, methane transparency, and its MRV framework to deepen engagement within the program. The role contributes to accelerating methane emission reductions aligned with the Paris Agreement by translating data into actionable industry initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a strategic stakeholder engagement and prioritization plan, focusing initially on key markets. Facilitate the engagement and recruitment of metallurgical coal producers, steel companies, and investors. Promote awareness and adoption of the Steel Methane Partnership, methane transparency, and its MRV framework. Create and deliver external visibility outputs, including webinars, briefings, outreach materials, and digital products, in coordination with the IMEO communications team. Produce steel sector engagement and supply-chain awareness outputs, such as reports and presentations. Develop investor engagement and stewardship products, including briefings and advisory notes. Design promotional materials for the Steel Methane Partnership and its methane transparency objectives. Assess user needs and develop improvement plans for digital products in collaboration with relevant teams. Deliver outreach activities through webinars, meetings, and presentations. Provide insights on methane emissions for IMEO communications and offer strategic advice on stakeholder dynamics and market positioning.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in energy, environment, climate policy, business, finance, or international relations is required. Demonstrated track record of engaging with companies, investors, governments, industry associations, NGOs, or international organizations is essential.
