Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Finance and Budget Assistant is responsible for assisting in the review, analysis, and preparation of cost estimates and budget proposals, covering mission resourcing requirements for staff and non-staff personnel, including programmatic aspects. This includes reviewing justifications for resource needs and coordinating with relevant sections. The role involves monitoring extra-budgetary resources, agreements, and cost plans to ensure compliance with regulations and policies. Additionally, the assistant monitors budget implementation and expenditures, assists with fund reallocation, and verifies the accuracy and consistency of budget data. Key duties also include preparing budget performance submissions, supporting the finalization of performance reports by analyzing variances, drafting correspondence on budgetary and financial matters, and assisting with the maintenance of the fixed asset register.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, budgeting, financial management, or a related area within international organizations or the private sector is required. This requirement is reduced to five years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Expertise in spreadsheets and SAP modules is mandatory, along with experience in monitoring financial transactions and analyzing trends according to IPSAS.
