This role sits within the Subnational Climate Action Unit of the Climate Change Division, focusing on enhancing implementation capacity, access to finance, and building resilience for subnational actors, particularly concerning the built environment.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to support subnational actors in planning, implementing, and financing climate resilience actions, with a specific focus on the built environment. The consultant will contribute to the Global Alliance of Building and Construction's work by developing knowledge products and project proposals. The role involves providing technical inputs on finance-related matters, supporting resource mobilization, and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including the private sector and finance institutions, to advance subnational climate finance initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop five GlobalABC knowledge products for subnational actors and contribute to collaborative project proposals on subnational buildings. Provide technical inputs and reviews for finance-related knowledge products and capacity-building materials. Propose recommendations for finance-related project interventions and support resource mobilization efforts. Engage with private sector, finance institutions, academic bodies, UN agencies, and other stakeholders in climate finance. Contribute to UNEP's work within the SDSN Urban SDG Finance Commission and as co-lead of Local2030 Working Group 2 on Localizing Finance.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of professional experience in sustainable buildings and construction is required. Experience in climate finance, development finance, or economics is desirable. The ability to work independently and strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
