Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) are integral to the UN Development System's reform, supporting countries in achieving development priorities and SDGs. Located in N'Djamena, Chad, this role operates within the UN RCO under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator and reports to the Head of the RCO. The office is part of the UN Secretariat's Development Operations Coordination Office (DCO).

Job Purpose

This role supports the UN Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in N'Djamena, Chad, by contributing to the implementation of communications strategies that enhance awareness, engagement, and support for UN development priorities and the SDGs. The incumbent will assist in gathering insights from media monitoring, drafting narratives, building media relationships, and creating compelling content across various platforms. Key contributions include developing communication products, managing campaigns, fostering partnerships, and supporting outreach and advocacy efforts to advance UN objectives and ensure effective communication of UN initiatives to target audiences.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include contributing to media monitoring and analysis to inform communication strategies, and implementing these strategies to drive engagement and support for UN initiatives. The role involves drafting narratives and messaging for diverse channels, developing media outreach and relationships, and preparing media lines, especially for sensitive situations. Responsibilities also encompass planning and coordinating media events, creating optimized content for various platforms, and producing communication materials like press releases and reports. Additionally, the role involves developing strategic communication partnerships, supporting outreach and advocacy campaigns, creating content for radio and podcasts, and assisting with reporting and training on strategic communications. Monitoring and analyzing communication performance, including social media analytics and website content, is also crucial.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in developing and implementing communication strategies is required. Experience managing digital communication platforms (websites, social media) and content production is essential. Demonstrated experience in media relations and knowledge of the Chad media landscape are also required. Experience within the UN system or international organizations is desirable.
