Communications and Knowledge Management Intern
Organizational Context
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) promotes sustainable urban development globally. The Tunisia country office, established in 2019, serves as a sub-regional hub for Algeria and Libya. This internship role is situated within the UN-Habitat Tunisia office, reporting to the Head of Office and Communications Assistant.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in communications and knowledge management within the UN-Habitat Tunisia office. The intern will support the development and dissemination of communication materials, manage digital platforms, and assist in documenting projects and events. This role contributes to enhancing UN-Habitat's visibility and outreach efforts in Tunisia and the wider sub-region, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The intern will gain exposure to international development work and hone essential communication skills.
Responsibilities
Assist in creating diverse communication materials, including social media content, articles, newsletters, and press releases. Support the compilation and drafting of press reviews and media monitoring summaries. Manage and update UN-Habitat Tunisia's digital platforms, such as social media channels and the website. Design basic visual materials like social media graphics, infographics, and presentations. Document projects and events through photography and written briefs. Aid in organizing and promoting events, campaigns, and outreach activities. Take meeting notes and assist in drafting summaries. Organize and archive communication materials for knowledge management. Perform other communication-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, academic exposure or experience in communications-related activities such as drafting social media content, writing articles, supporting communication campaigns, graphic design, media monitoring, or digital communications is desirable. Proficiency in written communication and basic research skills for drafting summaries is also desirable.
