Organizational Context
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Tunisia, established in 2019, promotes sustainable urban development and works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities. This internship role is within the UN-Habitat country office, reporting to the Head of Office and Program Assistant, and contributes to the UN's broader mission in Tunisia.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support UN-Habitat's urban climate portfolio by assisting with research, project idea development, and day-to-day project tasks. The intern will contribute to project development and fund mobilization efforts, support fieldwork, manage logistics for workshops, and take meeting minutes. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in urban climate resilience initiatives and contribute to UN-Habitat's mandate of promoting sustainable urbanization and reducing inequality within the UN system in Tunisia.
Responsibilities
Support research for ongoing and upcoming projects within the urban climate portfolio. Assist in formulating urban climate resilience project ideas and proposals. Contribute to daily tasks related to project development and fund mobilization activities. Provide support for fieldwork and data collection. Attend meetings, take accurate minutes, and assist with logistics management for workshops and events. Undertake any other tasks aligned with UN-Habitat's mandates and the objectives of the internship program.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship's focus is necessary. Desirable experience includes report writing and policy report development. Strong research skills are required.
