Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to contribute to the project "Improvement of urban resilience and infrastructure in Costa Rica through the development of a building code for climate adaptation." The consultant will be responsible for developing key project components and deliverables, including work plans, workshop reports, technology catalogs, and implementing capacity-building programs. The role involves close collaboration with national and international stakeholders to ensure the successful development and implementation of a climate-resilient building code, ultimately supporting Costa Rica's efforts in adapting to climate change impacts on its infrastructure and settlements.
Responsibilities
Develop project components and deliverables, including a work plan, workshop reports, and a catalog of adaptation technologies for the road infrastructure sector. Implement intermediate and advanced capacity-building programs on climate resilience and adaptation, providing detailed reports on outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations. Organize and facilitate workshops, meetings, and training sessions with key stakeholders. Prepare substantive documents, presentations, and reports, ensuring timely delivery and quality. Provide technical guidance on climate vulnerability assessment methodologies and contribute to the design of capacity-building modules. Support the creation of a roadmap for developing the adaptation code based on collected inputs and project experiences.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of experience in developing projects, programs, or public policies related to transport infrastructure, environmental issues, climate change, and urban development. Experience in climate vulnerability assessment in developing countries and in formulating technical and policy recommendations is essential. Proficiency in geographic and statistical information management, as well as knowledge of Costa Rican environmental and climate change legislation, is necessary.
