Organizational Context
The UN Secretariat's Resident Coordinator System office in Costa Rica seeks an individual contractor to support economic analysis. This role contributes to updated economic, fiscal, financial, and social databases, strategic indicators, and analytical tools to inform the Common Country Analysis (UNCA) and Cooperation Framework.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide crucial support to the Economist and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Results Officer within the Resident Coordinator's Office. The incumbent will ensure the availability of updated, integrated, and validated economic, fiscal, financial, and social databases, along with strategic indicators and analytical tools. This contribution is vital for developing the UN Common Country Analysis (UNCA) and formulating the upcoming Cooperation Framework. The generated outputs will strengthen the analysis of structural trends, territorial gaps, sectoral dynamics, development financing, fiscal sustainability, and SDG monitoring, thereby promoting evidence-based decision-making and methodological traceability of information used by the office.
Responsibilities
Support the collection, integration, cleaning, and validation of economic, fiscal, financial, and social databases for analyzing the financial landscape and sustainable human development trajectories in Costa Rica. Contribute to building and updating analytical matrices, time series, strategic indicators, and consolidated databases for monitoring structural trends, territorial gaps, and sectoral dynamics related to the SDGs. Develop advanced visualizations (charts, pivot tables, dashboards, executive presentations) to aid in interpreting results for strategic reports and national dialogues. Assist in systematizing and preliminarily analyzing official information for inputs on development financing, fiscal sustainability, public/private investment, and SDG financing gaps. Prepare analytical sections on the financial landscape, development trajectories, and demographic/productive trends, ensuring methodological consistency and source traceability. Provide support in updating data repositories, monitoring tools, and dashboards linked to the Cooperation Framework and UNCA process. Document technical assumptions, methodologies, and analysis processes for indicator construction and estimations. Perform other related technical functions in economic analysis and data management as assigned.
