Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) are integral to the UN's global reform, supporting countries in achieving development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals. This Administrative Assistant position is based in the UN RCO in Bamako, Mali, reporting to the Head of RCO and Senior Development Coordination Officer, Strategic Planning.
Job Purpose
The Administrative Assistant provides essential support to the UN Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Bamako, Mali, contributing to the effective and efficient delivery of UN Development System reforms and the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. The role involves managing human resources activities, assisting with budget and finance, providing general administrative support, and overseeing contract administration. This position is crucial for the smooth operation of the RCO and its mandate to support national development priorities.
Responsibilities
Manage human resources functions, including recruitment, staff administration, and responding to HR-related inquiries. Support budget and finance operations by assisting in proposal preparation, monitoring expenditures, and generating financial reports. Provide comprehensive general administrative support, such as drafting correspondence, coordinating with service units, managing travel, and maintaining office systems. Oversee contract administration, including processing payments and ensuring compliance with UN procedures. May also guide junior staff and act as secretariat for the UN Operations Management Team.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, audit, or human resources is required. Experience with an ERP system like Umoja is mandatory. Experience with the UN or similar international organizations, and in data analytics, is desirable.
