UNEP acts as an Implementing Agency for the Multilateral Fund, supporting Article 5 countries in their Montreal Protocol obligations through its OzonAction Compliance Assistance Programme.
Job Purpose
This consultancy supports UNEP's OzonAction Branch by assisting with Executive Committee (ExCom) project review activities, promoting and operating the AREA Training Manual registration process, analyzing Article 5 country data for compliance trends, and providing operational support to the International Network of Women in Cooling (INWIC) Secretariat. The role contributes to the effective implementation of Montreal Protocol obligations and related environmental initiatives by ensuring timely review of project submissions, enhancing training program reach, identifying compliance risks, and supporting key partnerships and governance activities within the OzonAction framework.
Responsibilities
Review ODS disposal project reports, verification reports for HPMPs and KIPs, and Institutional Strengthening project proposals and progress reports, ensuring consistency with ExCom decisions and guidelines. Analyze project submissions and provide technical comments for improvement. Manage, promote, and report on the UNEP-AREA Training Manual program, including processing registrations, maintaining databases, developing outreach materials, and liaising with stakeholders. Analyze Article 7 and CP data to identify compliance risks and trends, preparing analytical reports and recommendations. Provide secretariat support for INWIC activities, including coordinating governance, supporting workplan implementation, preparing reports, organizing meetings, and maintaining official records.
Work Experience
At least five years of relevant professional experience is required. Proven working knowledge of the Montreal Protocol and Ozone Layer protection programs and projects is essential. Experience with international initiatives, public awareness campaigns, and gender equality/women's empowerment initiatives is desirable.
