This role supports the Ministry of Finance of Brazil in developing the Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy (BST).
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide expert environmental technical guidance to the Ministry of Finance of Brazil for the development and implementation of the Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy (BST). The role involves supporting technical specialists, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with established principles and action plans. The work will contribute to promoting sustainable patterns of consumption and production, efficient resource use, and sound environmental decision-making within the financial sector, aligning with the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
Provide technical input and feedback on environmental objectives for the Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy (BST), reviewing deliverables from technical specialists and service providers. Consolidate progress and report to Inter-ministerial and Supervisory Committees. Ensure integration of feedback from coordinators and group members on sectoral and thematic technical groups, including circular economy and biodiversity. Offer strategic inputs and relevant information to group coordinators for progress reporting. Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to foster alignment and cooperation. Ensure all communications reflect UN core values, including a human rights-based approach and gender equality.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of progressive experience in sustainable development, macroeconomics, or sustainable finance within international organizations, government, or the private sector. One year of experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders is desirable. Experience in client-facing sustainability consulting and knowledge of sustainable finance drivers in emerging economies, particularly Brazil, are highly valued.
