Intern - Economist and Development Coordination Support
Organizational Context
The United Nations in Indonesia partners with various sectors to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), guided by the UN Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026-2030. The Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) leads UN agency coordination, focusing on strategic planning, partnerships, data management, and communications. This internship supports the RCO's efforts in implementing and monitoring the UNSDCF and broader UN development priorities.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Economist and Programme team within the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Indonesia. The role will contribute to the coordination, research, reporting, and communication activities essential for implementing and monitoring the UN Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026-2030 and advancing UN development priorities. The intern will assist in gathering information, preparing analytical and communication materials, and supporting stakeholder engagement to facilitate the RCO's collaboration with government, UN agencies, private sector, development partners, academia, and civil society. This position offers a practical learning experience in development coordination and UN operations within a country context, contributing to the achievement of SDGs.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide research and analytical support, including background research on socio-economic trends, SDG progress, and national development priorities. This involves reviewing policy documents and preparing briefing materials. Coordination and reporting support includes assisting with inter-agency coordination, organizing meetings, documenting proceedings, and tracking follow-up actions. Communication support involves preparing presentations, visual materials, and outreach content. Event and administrative support includes assisting with the logistical coordination of meetings and workshops, and other administrative tasks as needed. The intern will also support the compilation of information for SDG monitoring and reporting processes and maintain relevant knowledge management materials.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, experience in preparing written materials such as meeting summaries, briefing notes, or research summaries related to development or socio-economic issues is desirable. Experience supporting coordination activities, stakeholder engagement, or academic events is also considered beneficial.
Skills
Research and analytical skills, coordination and reporting, communication and presentation, stakeholder engagement, knowledge management, proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams), strong written and verbal communication in English and Indonesian.
