Organizational Context

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Tunisia seeks a Driver to provide safe and timely transportation services. This role is crucial for supporting OHCHR activities, meetings, and field missions within Tunis and throughout Tunisia, ensuring the operational readiness of official vehicles and compliance with UN safety procedures.

Job Purpose

The Driver's primary purpose is to ensure the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of OHCHR Representative, staff, consultants, and experts on mission within Tunis and across Tunisia. This includes providing logistical support for meetings, workshops, and field missions, facilitating airport arrivals and departures for official visitors, and maintaining official vehicles in excellent operational condition. The role is essential for the smooth execution of OHCHR's mandate by ensuring personnel and materials reach their destinations securely and efficiently, while strictly adhering to all United Nations road safety and security protocols. Accurate record-keeping of vehicle usage and maintenance is also a key aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

Provide safe and reliable transportation for OHCHR Representative, staff, consultants, and experts on mission within Tunis and throughout Tunisia. Drive official vehicles for various assignments, including airport transfers for official visitors. Ensure strict adherence to United Nations road safety and security procedures at all times. Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean and good operating condition, performing routine inspections and promptly reporting any mechanical defects. Arrange for routine vehicle servicing and ensure all registration, insurance, and inspection documents remain valid. Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel consumption records, and maintenance logs. Deliver and collect official mail, documents, and small equipment as required. Offer logistical support for meetings, workshops, conferences, and field missions. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor, maintaining confidentiality of all acquired information.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional driving experience is required. Experience working with the United Nations, an international organization, diplomatic mission, or NGO is desirable. Excellent knowledge of the road network throughout Tunisia is essential. Experience in defensive driving and transporting senior officials is considered an asset.
