Organizational Context

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Transport Division is implementing a project to enhance the Asia-Pacific Transport Network (APTN) platform. This role supports the project's goal of promoting data-driven decision-making for regional transport connectivity, utilizing AI-powered tools. The position is based in Bangkok.

Job Purpose

This role serves to provide essential support to the ESCAP Transport Division's project focused on strengthening regional transport connectivity through the APTN platform. The primary purpose is to assist in the review, testing, and enhancement of the APTN platform's technical and substantive content. This includes supporting data collection, analysis, and organizing consultations with member countries. The role contributes to making the APTN platform a more effective tool for policymakers, enabling evidence-based and AI-powered decision-making for the future development of the regional transport network.

Responsibilities

The Project Assistant will be responsible for reviewing the technical and substantive content of the APTN platform, ensuring its accuracy and functionality. Key duties include assisting with data collection and performing relevant data analysis. The role involves providing logistical support for virtual sub-regional consultations with participating countries. Additionally, the assistant will aid in testing updated APTN tools and other platform features to ensure optimal performance. Ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Section Chief are also part of the responsibilities, contributing to the overall success of the project.

Work Experience

A minimum of six months of relevant work experience is required, preferably in the transport or sustainable development sectors. Experience with platform review, data collection, analysis, and logistical support is beneficial.
