Organizational Context
The Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA) within the UN Secretariat is seeking a consultant to design a learning journey and cultural framework for the Peace and Disarmament Festival. This role, based in Lima, Peru, will run from August 2026 to March 2027, focusing on youth engagement in peacebuilding and nuclear disarmament.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop and implement a comprehensive learning journey and cultural framework for the Peace and Disarmament Festival. This framework will empower youth leaders to develop, refine, and showcase their peacebuilding and disarmament initiatives through creative, collaborative, and storytelling approaches. The role aims to foster meaningful participant engagement, integrate individual initiatives into a cohesive festival experience, and generate valuable lessons learned and recommendations for future iterations of the Youth Leader Fund program. Ultimately, the consultancy contributes to cultivating a new generation of leaders committed to peace, nuclear disarmament, and international cooperation.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for designing and facilitating a structured learning journey using co-creation, storytelling, and collaborative methodologies. This includes developing session materials, conducting learning sessions, and providing mentoring to participants as they refine their initiatives. The role also involves designing the conceptual and curatorial framework for the Peace Festival, ensuring a cohesive experience for participants and audiences, and supporting the curation of participant-generated content. Technical guidance on the festival's narrative and thematic coherence is required. The consultant will coordinate with partners, document learning outcomes, and prepare final recommendations. Participation in two in-person missions in Mexico is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience is required in cultural design, workshop facilitation, youth engagement, innovation, design thinking, or co-creation processes. Experience in cultural design for public engagement initiatives, festivals, or similar collaborative events is essential. Experience designing and facilitating participatory learning for youth audiences, working with international organizations, or in Latin America is desirable.
