Job Purpose
This Junior Graphic Designer role is crucial for supporting UN-Habitat's project implementation in São Paulo, Brazil. The purpose is to provide essential graphic design services for institutional reports and related project activities. The role contributes to the effective communication and visual presentation of UN-Habitat's urban development initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional branding and project objectives. The designer will collaborate with operational and technical teams to produce high-quality visual materials that enhance the clarity and impact of project outputs, ultimately supporting UN-Habitat's mission to transform cities into more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable places.
Responsibilities
The Junior Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing the layout and typesetting of an institutional report comprising 11 chapters, ensuring visual consistency and adherence to UN-Habitat's branding guidelines. This includes applying established visual language, creating templates, and designing a consistent layout framework for all chapters. The role involves designing and typesetting the content, organizing text, images, charts, tables, and maps. Additionally, the designer will create infographics, diagrams, and icons as needed to enhance information clarity. Responsibilities also include incorporating feedback during the review process and preparing final files for both print and digital distribution, ensuring all materials are fit-for-purpose and delivered in an organized manner.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible graphic design experience in Brazil is required. Previous experience with graphic design for development or non-profit projects is desirable. Familiarity with urban issues and UN System or international agency experience is also considered beneficial.
Skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Canva. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and Google Workspace. Competencies include professionalism, planning and organization, effective communication, and teamwork in multicultural environments. Knowledge of UN-Habitat processes and procedures is beneficial.
