Organizational Context
This Programme Management Officer position is based in the Programme Support and Management Services (PSMS) within the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland. The role reports to a P-4 Programme Management Officer, contributing to the effective management and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects.
Job Purpose
The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of OHCHR programmes and projects. This involves monitoring progress, analyzing project data, identifying issues, and proposing solutions. The role requires conducting research, assisting in policy development, and preparing various written outputs such as briefing notes and reports. Additionally, the officer will provide substantive support for meetings and conferences, coordinate budget and funding activities, and utilize data visualization methods for informed decision-making and reporting. The position aims to ensure efficient and effective programme delivery and contribute to the overall mandate of the OHCHR.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include participating in the full lifecycle of programme and project management, from development and implementation to evaluation. This involves monitoring progress, analyzing project data, identifying challenges, and recommending corrective actions. The role entails conducting research, analyzing information from diverse sources, and assisting in policy development and studies. The officer will prepare various written outputs, including briefing notes, background papers, and reports, and provide substantive support for meetings and conferences. Coordination of budget and funding activities, including preparation of financial statements and reports, is also a core duty. The position requires collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and provide insights through data visualization for planning and decision-making. Field missions and outreach activities, such as training workshops, are also part of the role.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Experience in producing high-quality presentations and briefing materials is desirable, as is experience with artificial intelligence tools for research and data analysis.
