Job Purpose
The Associate Communications Officer implements communications strategies, including the Cooperation Framework’s strategy for China, to raise awareness, drive engagement, and build support for UN initiatives. This role involves managing internal and external relationships, creating compelling content across various platforms, and coordinating communication campaigns. The purpose is to ensure measurable impact with target audiences and advance UN priorities within the China country context. The role also supports data analysis for informed decision-making and reporting, contributing to the UN's mission and the 2030 Agenda.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include contributing to media monitoring and analysis to inform strategy, implementing communications strategies to drive engagement and awareness, and drafting narratives and messaging for diverse audiences. The role involves media mapping, relationship building with media outlets, and developing media lines, especially for sensitive issues or crises. It also includes planning and coordinating press events, creating optimized content for various platforms, and producing communications products like press releases and reports. Furthermore, the officer will develop and coordinate strategic communications partnerships, support outreach and advocacy campaigns, and contribute to content creation for radio and podcasts. Analysis of communications performance and data visualization for reporting are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive experience in developing and implementing communications strategies is required. Demonstrated knowledge of strategic communications principles and practices is essential. Experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable, as are skills in content development, digital media platforms, and research/data analysis.
