Job Purpose
This internship within the Performance and Analytics Section (PAS) of the UN Department of Operational Support (DOS) offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical data analytics and business intelligence initiatives. The intern will work as a full member of the PAS team, engaging in project assignments designed to have a significant impact on the department's strategic planning, performance monitoring, and innovation efforts. This role provides hands-on experience in data analysis, visualization, and reporting, contributing to the continuous transformation and overall organizational performance of DOS. Responsibilities
The Data Science Intern will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data from diverse public and internal sources, including web scraping. This involves preparing data, developing data models, and conducting surveys. The intern will perform statistical and mathematical programming to interpret data, provide technical support for existing reports and dashboards, and assist with data cleaning and database maintenance. Key duties include translating data findings into written reports and visualizations for stakeholders, supporting data mining, optimization, metrics development, and predictive analysis. The intern will also contribute to identifying innovative data product approaches and perform other assigned duties, working collaboratively within the PAS team.
Work Experience
No prior working experience is required for this internship. However, relevant training, education, or advanced coursework in fields such as Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or Data Analytics is beneficial. Previous UN internship experience should be noted if applicable.
