The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, part of the UN Secretariat, seeks a Driver/Conductor in Bogota. This role is crucial for ensuring safe and timely ground transportation services, adhering to UN standards for road safety, security, and personnel well-being.
Job Purpose
The Driver/Conductor is responsible for providing secure and efficient transportation for authorized personnel, materials, and cargo within Bogota. This includes routine transport, delivery of items, airport services, and VIP transport. The role also involves maintaining vehicle safety and operational readiness through inspections and minor repairs, ensuring compliance with all organizational policies and local regulations. Effective communication with stakeholders and accurate record-keeping are essential to support the mission's operational requirements and ensure the safety and security of all transported individuals and goods.
Responsibilities
Safely operate vehicles for transporting personnel, materials, and cargo, adhering to organizational policies and traffic laws. Deliver and collect correspondence, documents, and parcels between the office and external stakeholders. Provide airport pickup/drop-off services and escort official personnel and visitors. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance, including checks on essential components. Perform minor vehicle repairs and coordinate major servicing to ensure operational readiness. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure proper equipment. Offer VIP transportation and standby driver support as needed. Promptly report any vehicle damage, accidents, or incidents. Maintain accurate logs of fuel consumption, mileage, maintenance, and repairs. Ensure compliance with all organizational, legal, and insurance procedures in case of accidents.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in professional driving services is required. Experience operating a wide range of vehicles, including light and heavy-duty vehicles, SUVs, ambulances, and vans, is necessary. Experience with armoured vehicles is desirable, as is relevant experience within the UN or similar international organizations.
