UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) - Facilitator Banking and Climate Team Retreats

Organizational Context

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a strategic partnership between the UN and over 500 financial institutions, driving the international sustainable finance agenda. It sets global standards and fosters a network of leading financial institutions. The Banking Team focuses on implementing the Principles for Responsible Banking, aligning the financial industry with the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals.

Job Purpose

This role serves as a facilitator for the UNEP FI Banking Team and Climate Team retreats. The primary purpose is to design and implement processes that enable these teams to generate ideas, make strategic decisions, and enhance team cohesion. The facilitator will contribute to improved strategic planning, team coordination, and overall secretariat function. The work will also ensure the integration of UN core values, including a human rights-based approach, the principle of leaving no one behind, and gender equality, throughout the retreat processes and outcomes, thereby strengthening the teams' alignment with sustainable development objectives.

Responsibilities

The facilitator will design and deliver retreat agendas and facilitation for both the Banking Team and Climate Team. This includes conducting preparation calls, developing facilitation plans, and setting up necessary online tools. Key duties involve delivering online and in-person facilitation sessions, preparing materials, and documenting retreat outcomes in comprehensive reports. The role also requires ensuring all communications and outputs align with UNEP and UN core values, promoting awareness of human rights, inclusivity, and gender equality. Additionally, the facilitator will support the integration of UNEP FI’s Social Action Plan into the teams' work, contributing to the overall strategic direction and effectiveness of the Banking and Climate Teams.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of work experience in business development, facilitation, or strategy is required. Experience within the environment or finance sectors, and in international organizations, is considered a strong advantage. Proven knowledge in strategic planning, meeting design, facilitation, team building, and event documentation is essential.
