International Drug Control Consultants

Organizational Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking three International Drug Control Consultants to deliver specialized lectures and academic sessions for a Higher Diploma in Drug Control programme. These consultants will work under the direct supervision of a UNODC Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer and the overall guidance of the Representative for the GCC Region.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to contribute expertise to the Higher Diploma in Drug Control programme by preparing and delivering specialized lectures and academic sessions. Consultants will develop and adapt lecture materials, provide technical input aligned with international standards, and create assessment tools. They will also evaluate student work, provide feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the course content and delivery. This role directly supports UNODC's mandate in drug control and crime prevention by enhancing the capacity of professionals in the field.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include preparing and delivering specialized lectures and academic sessions within the consultant's area of expertise for the Higher Diploma in Drug Control programme. This involves developing and adapting lecture materials, presentations, and supporting resources to align with programme objectives and international standards. Consultants will provide technical and subject-matter input for course content development and delivery. They are also responsible for creating examination materials, assessment questions, and tools, and subsequently reviewing, assessing, and evaluating examination scripts and assignments, providing structured grading and feedback. Finally, consultants will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of course content and delivery methods based on their teaching experience and participant feedback.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience in areas such as drug treatment, toxicology, addiction treatment, rehabilitation, social reintegration, public health, research, or statistical analysis is required. Experience in delivering academic or professional training, including curriculum development and lecture delivery, is also mandatory. Experience in delivering training or technical assistance in the GCC and/or MENA region is desirable.

Skills

Expertise in drug control, particularly the international regime on drug control and crime prevention. Experience in delivering academic or professional training, curriculum development, and lecture delivery. Strong analytical and evaluation skills for assessing examination scripts. Ability to provide constructive feedback. Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
