Organizational Context
The International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) is an entity within the UN Secretariat tasked with assisting in the investigation and prosecution of serious international crimes in Syria. This Social Media Intern role sits within the Office of the Assistant Secretary General (OASG), supporting the strategic and operational implementation of the IIIM's mandate through digital outreach.
Job Purpose
The Social Media Intern will support the Office of the Assistant Secretary General (OASG) in managing and enhancing the IIIM's digital presence. This role is crucial for disseminating information about the Mechanism's mandate, campaigns, events, and publications across various social media platforms. The intern will contribute to developing engaging multimedia content, monitoring online trends, and evaluating the impact of digital outreach activities. By preparing analytics reports and assisting with digital communications tasks, the intern directly supports the OASG's efforts in strategic communication and external engagement, thereby contributing to the overall mission of the IIIM.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing the IIIM's social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, WhatsApp). Schedule social media content aligned with organizational priorities, campaigns, and events. Draft social media posts for review and approval. Support the creation of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and infographics. Conduct daily social media monitoring and summarize relevant developments. Promote events, reports, and campaigns through digital channels. Measure and evaluate digital outreach activities and contribute to reporting on communications impact. Prepare regular analytics reports and dashboards with key performance indicators and recommendations. Perform other digital communications tasks as assigned to support the OASG and IIIM.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, familiarity with social media platforms and their content formats is essential. Experience with content creation tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, and knowledge of social media management tools such as Hootsuite, are required.
