Organizational Context
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is part of the UN Secretariat, responsible for coordinating humanitarian actors in emergencies. The Strategic Prioritization and Practices Branch (SPPB) enhances coordination effectiveness through innovative tools and services. This internship is within the Approaches and Practices Section (APS) of SPPB, focusing on global and field-level humanitarian policy and coordination.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Approaches and Practices Section (APS) within OCHA's Strategic Prioritization and Practices Branch (SPPB). The role will contribute to enhancing humanitarian policy and coordination practices globally and in the field. The intern will assist in studies, research, drafting materials, and supporting meetings related to humanitarian response and coordination, including the Global Cluster Coordination Group (GCCG), thereby facilitating effective humanitarian action and preparedness.
Responsibilities
Assist in designing and preparing studies on humanitarian response, coordination, and related issues such as localization, cash, and accountability to affected populations (AAP). Conduct research, analyze information from various sources, and present findings. Draft written materials including study sections, background papers, policy notes, and presentations. Maintain reference materials on humanitarian policy and coordination. Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and events, including taking notes. Update data platforms and assist with general planning within the section. Monitor current humanitarian affairs, political, policy, and gender issues. Specifically, support the secretariat of the Global Cluster Coordination Group (GCCG) by preparing and organizing meetings, drafting agendas and background materials, managing logistics, and drafting summary notes.
Work Experience

Skills
Excellent writing and communication skills. Skills in information management, coordination, administration, and translation are desirable. Experience with MS Excel. Data analysis and visualization skills. Ability to demonstrate practical academic or professional experience requiring attention to detail.
