Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Subregional Office for North and Central Asia (SONCA) in its mission to foster regional cooperation and sustainable development. The intern will contribute to research, analysis, coordination, and administrative activities across various programmes and initiatives. Key areas of focus include research on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), engagement on connectivity issues, support for multi-stakeholder initiatives, event organization, and general administrative tasks. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in economic affairs within a UN regional commission context.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide support for research, analytical, coordination, and administrative activities within ESCAP/SONCA's programmes. This includes conducting research and analysis for SPECA and SDG-related initiatives, preparing documentation, and supporting stakeholder outreach. The role involves assisting with research on regional and subregional connectivity issues, such as energy, transport, and ICT. Additionally, the intern will support the planning and coordination of meetings, consultations, and collaborative initiatives. Responsibilities also extend to providing substantive, logistical, and administrative support for conferences and workshops, as well as assisting with daily administrative tasks, drafting correspondence, and maintaining records.
