Job Purpose
This role supports and advises the Chief of Staff within the Office of the Executive Director. Key functions include strategically prioritizing communications, reviewing and commenting on documents for policy alignment and style, and identifying emerging policy and managerial issues for the Chief of Staff's attention. The position also involves coordinating recommendations for action, liaising with divisions and offices to ensure efficient communication, and managing the Chief of Staff's daily schedule and appointments. Additionally, the role supports the Chief of Staff in preparing for and participating in high-level meetings, maintaining contact with governments and international organizations, and preparing briefing materials for missions. Data analysis for trend identification and reporting is also a component, enabling data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing strategic support and advice to the Chief of Staff by prioritizing communications, reviewing policy documents for substance and style, and identifying emerging policy and managerial issues. The role involves acting as a liaison between the Chief of Staff, Executive Office, senior management, and UN-Habitat's regional offices, ensuring efficient communication and coordination. This includes managing the Chief of Staff's schedule, handling appointment requests, and drafting correspondence. The position also supports the Chief of Staff in preparing for and participating in significant meetings such as the UN-Habitat Assembly and Executive Board, ensuring adequate briefing materials are available. Furthermore, the role facilitates communication with governments and international organizations, monitors political developments, and assesses their impact on UN-Habitat's work. It also involves coordinating mission preparation, finalizing speeches, and assisting with post-mission follow-up, including data analysis for reporting and decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in public administration, international relations, law, development management, or business administration is required. This includes at least three years in international and multilateral relations and three years in a busy executive office within the UN or a similar international organization. Two or more years of experience in data analytics is desirable.
